Hi Everyone.
Thought i might introduce myself. User name " Dodders '
Owner of the following TRX I have had the bike 4 years and it has served its purpose very well and cant see myself parting with it . Although not the prettiest one going around, but it seems that when we stop for a break when out riding with my mates I can never get back on it due to every one wanting a ride (especially around mountain roads). Any way more about my bike in later letters . For the past 17 years two of my mates and a few ring inns now and then have enjoyed a trip across the top of Mt Hotham Vic Aust . Its one of those events that you just cant wait to do every year. For the same core group to stay together this long is just an unbelievable friendship and i hope it continues for a lot more years. These photos were taken two days after a early snow fall which made this trip one of the ones you always remember. hope you enjoy them

Sounds like great fun, would love to head up that way for a ride myself. Just hard to get my mates to pull their fingers out and commit! How long would you recommend to enjoy the roads up there? (And if you swapped bikes for a few runs, how does the viffer 750 compare to a trixy?)

We normally stay up there for about 3 days . We used to stay at a place called the Blue Duck But this year we found a old church that had been re furbished and sleeps about 8 for half the price and is in the township itself .With the road over Falls Creek now sealed there's plenty of riding to be done. You can also head down to the lakes which a fantastic ride itself . So much to do, such little time! The VFR used to be mine and i sold it to my brother who is one of the original riders. The bike is great to ride on long trips. Have done a 1100 Klms in a day on board and still felt pretty good .
Any time you need a ride.

What time of the year is that,we go over in January and its normally warm.

Always first weekend in May. Some are good some are bad. The coldest spot to ride through this year was Tagerty And Buxton
Normally a stop over in Mansfield for a bite to eat at the bakery, and a coffee at Bright but this year the sun was out over the hills so we stopped at Mt Hotham itself for a pizza and a drink. Absolutely awesome!!. Some times we have had mist and fog going over the top with visibility about 3 Feet and max speed about 10 ks but that just ads to the charm. If every time was the same it would be boring.

Definitely sounds like a good time, I'm gonna put it to the lads for sure. 1100 in a day?! That's a bloody good effort. The viffer looks pretty comfy, always wondered what it would be like for a bit of touring with the girlfriend on the back. Don't think I could put her through that on the trixy! (Not that I could ever sell it of course).

Yes the VFR is a fantastic bike to have the Miss's on the back , My wife like the trips as long a i had the gear sack rack on so she could lean back. And i can still get to ride it . One thing i am trying at the moment is i have a spare rear seat for the trx and i have purchased an old VFR seat cut the rear off and attached it to the trx mold to give a lot more comfort for the passenger and it easily comes of and put the original back on and looks the part as well, when that parts finished ill post pics. Now i know how !!!!

Ah yes a spare seat would be nice to have, wouldn't want a bulbous one on the bike all the time. Threw on some bar risers I had sitting in the spares box yesterday for a blat up to Marysville via Christmas Hills, couldn't believe how much more comfortable it was. Put the trip idea into the guys heads yesterday, at least the seed is planted, might have to keep at them until they say yes! Any accommodation info would be great, no rush though.
