Hey guys,

My father is interested at purchasing a TRX, the problem is that it is located around 4hrs away (Inverell, NSW), and he has asked me to inquire about it. Now whenever I have looked at buying a TRX I have been able to view it in the flesh and even take it for a test ride and subsequently I have had very few issues (minor of major) with my TRX's.

My question is this then, what do I ask (via email) to find out about the condition. What questions can I ask to find out about any of the "TRX problems"? I would like to inquire about it early tomorrow, so the more questions I get the better - that way I can find out more and if we still like it we may take the trip and have a look.

what colour is it mate i used to live in Glen Innes. There was a blue on that was brought brand new from tom claxtons yamaha dealer that used to run around town i new the bloke who brought its son . He sold it to a guy in Inverrell mite be the same one

things to ask service history klm chain sprockets tyres rego paint aftermarket parts pipes iff rims are polished how meny owners get him to email you some close up picture's if he wants to sell it he will do it that way you no what you are in for

being at inverell most off it will be hwy klm you would hope its a long way to the closest track

Nah it's a black one. I've seen photo's of it on the net (cannot seem to copy them from the website). It has a belly pan, staintunes (different link pipe making reducing the incline of them), 1998 model, only travelled 37,000 kms, registered till October.

It is being sold by the dealer that originally sold the bike and it has had two owners since.

That would be inverell motorcycles they were the yamaha dealer out there. There was another bike shop out there cant rember the name of it i brought my tls from out there. mate it sounds allright good luck

Well mate all you can hope is that there are records of services and /or repairs and they where done thro the same dealership as such. Bit hard unless your there lookin him in the eye tho good luck...

may be obvious, but ask about all the 'consumables' too: tyres, chain, sprocks, pads, oil, filter etc as they can all add up $-wise afterwards.

how did you go mate did you go and have a look at it

The bloke has come down in price very reasonably and I am going on holidays at the end of the week, so I'm going to go down then (over 400kms away ). I'll let you guys know how I get on

Well we drove down yesterday to check it out. Ended up leaving the Goldy at 5am and got down there around 9:45. Long drive but so awesome to see the country-side. Bike is a beautiful condition 1998 with 37,000kms. Has been repaired - claimed it fell over in a car-park after being re-tarred - but all of this was done very well. I have ridden three different TRX's so far and it is the best by far. I rode it back from Inverell and apart from freezing through two layers of denim, and through a jumper, shirt and leather jacket (with winter liner fitted), it was awesome. We rode basically non-stop apart from a 30min lunch break, and I could've ridden for another 450km's. I loved it and if the old man didn't buy it, I would've.

Pictures will be posted soon. He is already interested in sourcing equipment for it

well done mate how cold was it in Glen Innes . i was talking to a friend up there last night he said it was -12 the night before so im bet you would have frezzed your nuts off

Whobble screen?? I would say what are these but I can see 'what' they are...where are they available and what's the difference between them and a simple double-bubble?

Yeah I think it was from Wrights....basically the used motorbike section is in the same building as a Toyota dealership, but apparently Toyota hierarchy want the bike section gone (maybe - don't quote me on it). I don't know if the bloke was Les, maybe Andrew...dunno really I didn't deal with him - I left that to the old man.
