Back from Spain

Hello folks, recently got back from spain. Myself on the trusty Trx and my mate on his surprisingly trusty 748s. Weather was 37deg and those spanish roads were fantastic. We headed from Santander down the excellent n623 to Burgos then meandered down to Valencia using the twistiest looking roads on the map.

Nice photos & better rides, in Spain we have a good weather to ride but must be careful in highways with the radars. In the lasts years the DGT (Direccion General de Trafico) put a lot of radar on the highways, some of them hidden in the side or behind road signals or on move radar-cars with standard plates or on Guardia Civil cars (something like highway patrol, white cars with hood and doors in olive green. You visit Valencia?

Yeah that rucksac is a big un ain't she. Customs checked for illegals stowed away in it. Have to say the Trx and 748s are evenly matched. Acceleration, fast sweeping bends,tight quick direction changing bends there was nothing in it. However those brembos are brilliant. Fuel consumption was slightly higher on the Trx and over 1600mls the Trx used just over 1/4 litre of oil. The 748 used nowt.
With temps around 37 deg if the 748 wasn't moving it was always running hot. Show it some traffic and it would fry my mates legs from the exhausts. We swopped bikes along the way and as good as the 748 is, i just couldn't live with it. The riding position is feet high up,head down over the screen and weight on the wrists.After 5mls my throttle hand was numb.

How cool is that plate attachment. Have to say we didn't have any problems with the guardia civil. Only wish our police were that laid back. We had performance pipes and small plates but always kept to the speed limit through villages and towns and we never got bothered.
We got lost in Valencia looking for the autovia for Pucol where we found a campsite. Holy shit was it ever hot in valencia,the sweat was pouring off us pitching our tents. Nothing a few beers can't put right tho.
Have you ever ridden the cv20 from Onda to Olba through Montanejos? When we were leaving Pucol a car behind us started sounding his horn and pulled alongside us.In my broken spanish and his broken english he told us the cv20 to Montanejos was a good road on a bike. Was he ever right. Seems everybody loves bikes in Spain. Kids in villages encouraging us to rev our bikes as we rode through. Ah heaven.

I'm glad you enjoy your visit to Spain. You have reason, in summer in Valencia we have sometimes too much hot but also have beach to get cooled. A lot of raiders go to Montanejos road to get fun with his corners and it´s famous for it. In Spain we like a lot motorcycling (But the "king" of sports it´s of course soccer) and ,because our sunny weather, a lot of people ride a bike (to go work, to get fun or race) and I have to confess that I also encourage to rev like these children (although I do sometimes). Surely these kids have a poster in his room of Pedrosa, Lorenzo (that I hate, excellent rider but totally asshole in my opinion), Barbera..... and they are growing up looking the races with his fathers .

Hey DrSlumper.Good video.I remember that road and having a great time riding it. Kept meaning to stop and take pictures of the great scenery but just couldn't bring myself to stop.
I seem to remember that happening alot on our trip.
Now i'm back in England my mind is always thinking of Spain.

Rather than having a huge tall tail set like these guys, I much prefer a tank-bag and small tail-set, for these reasons:
1. It gives optimum weight distribution.
2. A tank-bag gives a map platform, a useful pocket for one's wallet, and something to lean on.
3. A tank-bag absorbs some engine noise (though ear-plugs are essential as well to avoid tinnitus).
4. A tank-bag fills the volume between screen and rider, reducing turbulence, so more aerodynamic.
5. A small tail-set helps to reduce tail-end turbulence, so (again) more aerodynamic.

Whereas:
6. A tall tail-set means it's less elegant to climb onto the bike; and you risk scratching the tank with your boot.
7. A tall tail-set is less secure and more likely to vibrate loose.
8. A tall tail-set puts luggage too far from the CG, making the front wheel too light.
9. A tall tail-set makes the bike slightly less stable when parked.

QED! It's a no-brainer!
