Hi,

just performed the swap the clipons over trick what a transformation. rider position is about two inches higher. still have full lock on bars much more comfy.

for anyone having problems with riding position i would highly recommend this, can't believe i have had my bike nearly 9 years and didnt know about this trick.

Thanks to the inventor....

Isn't it a bit confusing having the Throttle on the wrong side

Hi,

did not know this trick, had my bike nearly nine years.

the trick is swap the left hand clipon for the right hand clip on, and you instantly have a raised riding position. Because normally the clipons are angled down, by swapping thme over you get the riding position raised up by about 3 inches much improved riding position, give it a try if you are having comfort issues i.e. back ache, aching wrists, been out on mine all day today and no aches or pains...

Hope this helps...

there are some pics on the forum somewhere#

I'm toying with doing this to my TRX before next years pilgrimige to the Pyrenees. Do you need to drill the bars for the switchgear or is it a simple unbolt, swap over, re-install job?

Cheers, Corners

Hi,

just swap over.

The tubey things that attach to the clip ons come out with an allen screw. No drilig of the throttle allthat stays on the tubet hthings :D take no more than about 15mins. only problem i have found, is that the horn wiring is a tad short and needs re-routing as the spades seem to pull off the horn, i did squash the crimps slightly with pliers to get them a tighte fit on horn and seems to be better now.

Alun, you're a star! I'd not looked at the job properly and the bikes in the garage under a sheet at the mo. So you drop the bars/switch gear/grips off/out of the mounts, swap the mounts over then re-insert the bars into the swapped mounts without stripping the switchgear etc off them - cooool! I might do that this weekend time permitting.

I'm also undertaking a bit of a major overhaul over the winter as the valve clearances are due, I want to stubby and re-pack the cans on the bike as well as a few other jobs I have been meaning to do such as new Samco hoses all round, plugs and oil change whilst the engines stripped down. I'm planning to do all this myself with the assistance of a mechanic mates who's handy with the Snap Ons!! I must start a 'project' thread with pics....

Thanks again.

Hi Alun,

I've been thinking of doing this but thought you had to cut up the fairing to get bar clearance????
