2 days without having to share lifts with others so using the bike, and the weather is nice as well! doesn't take as long to get there, no hold ups and no queues. Its like turning the clock back 30 years when bikes were my only form of transport. Look out for old red TRX if your around the A141.

Hmm,

I commute every day on mine, usually it's the same old same old. Conditions in Sydney yesterday were very different, riding through a dust storm was like being in a red fog. Just drier and dustier!

yer same in Brisbane with the dust started off riding a black trx but by the time i got in the city i had a red one...

I quite enjoy the commute to and from work, although it's mostly traffic infested A19 and A1. There's a lovely quiet stretch of TT-esque country road for the last few miles getting there and a whopping great third gear roundabout on my way back- ace!

Day 1 thumbs up for fun, oh and the second gear roundabout flip flop was great, 40 minutes off the day befores time a well. Speeding officer, oh no they're kilometers, its an import you see, havent got my glasses on to see those small mile an hour smudges, and maths was never my strong subject, was it divide by 5 and muliply by 8.............................

I can remember actually using the km/ph excuse once on a Duke borrowed for a test ride ... bad (annoying) little cop believed it and gave wagging finger lecture ... good cop said quietly to me as they walked away ... "funny how there's m/ph written in tiny numbers there too". I looked suitably surprised as he grinned and he said (even quieter) "he's a right officious bastard ... have fun", winked and walked away

Hmmmm . Almost makes the trek into the penal colony each day worth while ......... I only have 7 miles to go and one ''safety camera '' to negotiate and I'm there . Blink of an eye .....

Well day 2 of commuting and its still fun, bike running good, and its definately quicker than the car. Wont be using it when its cold and wet though!! 100 ltr rucsac is ok, and carries change of clothes, which is just as well as I wouldn't want to sit around in my leathers for 9 hours.

I live near Stoke-on-Trent, but teach 56 miles away in Liverpool. To go by car, I leave at 6.30 while the roads are fairly quiet. Going on the M6 & M62 it takes about 1hr 15 minutes; so I have some time to find a parking place before classes at 9.00. But if I left (by car) an hour later, I'd spend a further half hour in jams and would arrive late!

On clear roads, the same trip on the TRX take a mere 45-50 minutes ; but even in rush hour it takes just over an hour door to door. On the way in, I take the motorways, but coming home I take the by-roads, usually via Knutsford and Holmes-Chapel, to have a bit of fun on some bends!

I have been pleasantly surprised at the general courtesy of cars and vans towards me; but there's the occasional half-wit who can't bear the fact that a motorbike slices through the traffic so much faster they can; and sometime they try and cut you up really dangerously. You always have to keep your wits about you when biking!

I work in Liverpool on just two days a week; but I commute by bike only when it's going to be enjoyable. If it's cold, windy and rainy, I'll go by car. As the late great LJK Setright once said, "you should never ride a motorbike because you have to, only if you want to!". I had a great ride in yesterday - dry, sunny, and a helpful tailwind - it was good to be alive!

But as winter's icy tentacles set in, the TRX will stay longer in the garage. Every time I put the bike away, I connect it up to a £10 trickle-charge solar-panel that keeps the battery in good order. I find the TRX can be an unwilling starter if you leave it too long unridden.

Did 3 days in the end, but its a bit cool at 4 in the morning!! However definately fun, and will be doing more days out, You never know maybe even a meet somewhere before winter sets in ??, Oh and I'm not working!
