I managed to to put a 2 cm dent in one of my header pipes at the bottom bend. It does not seem to have affected anything yet but I expect that airflow would be fairly disturbed. Should I be concerned?

Not really,unless you notice a marked reduction in power I wouldn`t worry too much about it,personally I don`t think you`ll notice anything apart from the fact you can see it and it annoys you just being there.

Now I remember a comment on a cure for such a problem was to fill it full of water and put it in a freezer ..This will do the trick and pop the dint back out again...Just take the headers off the bike first tho

Being stainless steel you could also weld a stainless bolt head to the dent,then by using a slide hammer on the bolts threaded section pull/dress it back out too.Obviously you would also need to grind the bolt back off and re-polish the pipe.
Lot of trouble for aesthetics though .
If it`s not causing any problems just leave it alone is my tip.Alternatively use exhaust wrap to cover it up

I'm trying to find someone nearby with a freezer big enough that don't mind me putting my std headers in. When i find a willing participant, i'll let you know if it works.

the freezer sounds interesting. I think i will wait to see if someone else tries that one first. In the meantime, the dent gives it character

When you see the size of an O2 sensor in the 900 motor you'll know about obstructions in the system - must get round to making a blanking plug for mine sometime.

Is it in the pipes,not had a close look around the 900 TDM motor?
Yes if it`s there disturbing flow and it could just as easily be blanked off,I think I would be blanking it off too.
But wait,is it constantly monitoring O2 for the EFI system?

It protrudes into the downpipe just before the silencer. I have Akras/Power Commander setup so the O2 sensor is disconnected - just need to find a big enough bolt to plug it.............................

Should be a standard metric thread,you`ll have to get it out and get a thread guage on it.Mind knowing the Japanese it might be metric fine pitch.One of the UK`s fastener suppliers should be able to help,Inox are a good company:

Lol .............got to say it works really well with a Power Commander - pulls easily from 2500 cleanly to 9000 and makes a healthy 69 wheel bhp @5000 - just where you want it......................

Not having seen the O2 sensor in your TDM I am going on what I was told to get rid of the KTM one when I put new pipes on mine.That is it is a pipe fitting and that any plumbing supplie co. that handles stainless fittings will have a plug that fits.

a bit of colateral damage. When I smacked the pipe I must have weakened the weld which holds the passenger footpeg and the exhaust pipe onto the frame. Exhuast pipe is held on with a cable tie for now until I can get it repaired.
