Hi folks,

I've been contemplating FCR's for the Rex. I'm currently running Remus full system with K & N filter. Not sure if the Carbs have been jetted by previous owner, but i'd presume they have been. If I get a flatslide carb, would I have to junk the air box and place pods on to replace the K & N. And would there be anything else to do to it ? I remember putting a Mikuni FCR on my ex Harley Davidson Sportster and the performance diff' was incredible. Would I see a vast improvement on the TRX ? They're expensive, so it would have to be worthwhile. Hope you can assist, many thanks.

No , air box adapters are available for the flatslides.

Likely the carbs were not rejetted the TRX runs a tad rich up top anyway so there`s no problems normally,some folk fit dynojet kits though..
To give you an idea of power gains you can expect at least 10 bhp,I saw more than that once I fitted my FCR`s and I`ve not done the TPS(throttle position sensor)mod either,some say that`s worth another 2>3 bhp too.It basically sets the ignition at full advance.

Yep. I've got a pair fitted to my bike using the airbox and they're brilliant Definitely worth it, if only for the noise, but they do give a good power increase even with the airbox fitted. I removed the trumpet from the top of the airbox and raised the front of the tank a little using a spacer under the front mount.

Thanks for the replies folks, it's much appreciated. I don't post much on this site but visit regularly. I'm a bit afraid of making a prat of myself, but hey if you don't ask, you don't get. I'll have to start saving for the FCR's, can't wait. I've had the bike for a few months now and don't think any bike that I've ever owned puts a smile on my face like this one. I had restrictions with the top end power range with the air box fitted and once I ditched that I found in top gear it pulls past 9,000rpm now and I just ran the blue bellmouths supplied with the FCR's with a filtersock.

Not sure where you are Yilt but you could always try locating a second hand set on Ebay,that`s where I found mine at £250!
Had to get some inlet stub blanks and cables from Allens(UK)and some sock filters from Ramair but quite a cheap conversion all up.
Alternatively visit the States and `smuggle` back some in the suitcase,check out this price for a new set :

You could try an international call Cobba,obviously check out the differences in time zones first.
