G'Day Guys,
Can anyone help me with a conversion to 09 R6 Forks?
Can I use the std TRX stem or will I have to have one manufactured?
Anyone have any useful picks?

there are multiple forum members frothing at the mouth right now screaming "fukin search function"

lot of information there, never saw anything about your year r6 front end - but other year r6/r1 yes.

from memory of other posts you use your stem but you "press" it somehow into the the r6 yokes. there is a brilliant thread somewhere on it.

key tip - when searching search in the first post of topic . you will normally find threads that are specific to your interest.

I have searched plenty, and found much related info, just not what I am after in terms of measurements.
If that causes people grief then I shan't bother them again

Why always have to use "the fukin search function"? This forum is made for questions. If you always use the
search... no new information will come here.

@Redog: Sorry i cant help you with this.

I'm pretty sure I enquired about r6 forks at an earlier stage - but pretty sure it wasn't for that year model. From what I recall, I was told that the r6 forks are shorter than the r1 and as you can bump your headers on some speedbumps and gutters (here is AUS) with the r1 forks, I assumed that the r6 forks would be even worse for this. I know I havn't given you any data, but food for thought is always good also

Assuming they are broadly the right length (the legs that is), it shoudln't be much more complicated than pressing the stem out of the TRX yokes and back into the R6 yokes. May have to turn down on lathe or increase diameter with weld but that'll get you 90% of the way there. If you use r6 wheel, discs and mudguard life becomes even easier (although you will lose speeo drive). Using TRX wheel will invariably require fabrication of spacers.

Of course, the devil is in the detail - steering lock, ignition etc

Thanks guys. I will measure it all up and work it out. I have the complete R6 front with radial calipers and mudguard. Mt tachometer is crook so I have bought an after market digital cluster, so no problems with speedo drive. Anyhow, it will be fun to sort it all out.

If you've got a complete front end just swap the stems over and work it from there

Isn't the R6 stem going to about 40mm too short?
I haven't got it yet.

Which is why I said 'swap the stems over' Sorry, I was assuming you're on about putting the R6 bits into a TRX.

I've just put a set of '99 R1 forks on my trx, reasonably simple ! Had a new stem made and top hat spacer using the attached drawings that I found on another TRX site. The only things I had to change were the 136 dimension on the stem, I made this 134 and on the top hat spacer, I reduced the 11 dimension to about 7 in increments until I was happy with it !! Hope this helps, by the way if you want to keep the mechanical speedo, you have to machine about 8mm from the inside of the left fork bottom (to make room for the speedo drive) and use a 750 thunderace wheel.

Maybe he meant YZF750/Thunderace? A 750 wheel works in the Thunderace forks but I think the disc mounts are different.
