Ha - finally got bike running yesterday Valves all set to max gap, which oddly seems to have quietened the motor??? Float hight were set in the end by making a home made fuel height measuring gauge. Height is way smaller than 14mm haven't been out on it yet as wife was threatening divorce if I spent any more time on the bike. I may take it down to a local dyno guy to have the factory pro needles set up, as I can't be arsed with any more aggro.

Thanks to every one who made suggestions - the cable site was great, saved me a boat load of time / money

FCR's would still be nice -might start saving up

Been out today - Feels great, pick up has improved and it feels more alive, I think there will be gains for carb fiddling

What did you set the floats to please?

Because he fabricated a float bowl fuel level guage, I`m guessing like the one displayed pictorially in the Haynes manual, measuring the float heights now would really only be of use to SDN Kenny.
Your carbs may have some wear and tear on float needle seats, float pivot, the tip of the float needle valve etc and you cannot factor such things in really.
SDN, any pictures of that home made guage or a step by step guide as to how you made one available for the members?
