Took the rex out for a 5min shakedown run tonight. LOVIN IT LOVIN IT LOVIN IT! so chuffed! It didnt do power wheelies before!, honest officer!
I've done a bit of work to it over the last couple of weeks as it had sat in the garage for about a year, loved but neglected, got the brakes sorted out (Sorry Ian but thanks anyway I managed to get a set of bs for £48 on ebay) which had been bugging me for a while as I couldnt figure out what was wrong with them it turned out to be the disc had done something which made it want to flip inwards on the actual braking part, so brakes were smooth no pulsing of warped disc, just really crap, anyway sorted now with a disc from an old wheel.
Put some mx style bars and risers on it, drilled out the tope yoke to accept the risers and bars, both about 80mm, I'll change this in the future at some point for a proper top yoke unit from m+p or the likes but wasn't going to spend money on somthing I might not like the feel of, However it rocks!, so Ill be buying the right thing soon.
Headed out on the road and knew after the first twist of the throttle that this is the set up for me feels like i have so much more control over the bike than before.
****Note to others going out for first shakedown run: always make sure the master cylinder resovoir car is on and tightened to the manufacturers torque setting otherwise riding back down the road with one hand on the top of said resovoir looking for said cap may occur!
Got back home with cap back on and a massive grin and in need of more ride time, however it was just a test run and there are still lots of jobs to be done.

I live in Leeds, although I actually come from Minceheads stomping ground (Edinburgh, and miss it ) Leeds isnt so bad though, loads of nice roads for biking so I hope to get out on them, whilst the weather is still holding, instead of the bike gathering dust surrounded by garden stuff, crap from work and kids toys!

Only been there once, and that was work related!, get out onto the moors then.

Still got lights to wire up and make sure everything is tight then mot time hope every thing is okay all feels good

Wheel and steering head bearings are the ones that aren't a 5 minute fix!

I think the bearings are all ok, but that makes me think about keeping them that way, whats the deal with greasing wheel bearings and all the others come to think of it? I should prob look in the tech pages
what sort of play should there be in the chain? 25mm rise before getting tight?

Yep about that, too loose and theres chain snatch, too tight and it doesn't like finding gears. Only had to have the front wheel bearings changed on mine, but then its old!

whats the deal with the emultion tubes? what are they how do i know if mine are in need of...whatever emultion tubes need? hey i just found more smilies!

It wont tick over, wrecks plugs, and uses too much fuel !!! You would know from your run! Had to change them on mine some time ago.

OH! sounds bad! mine somtimes does this (most annoying) if you let it tickover for a bit at the lights for example, then go for the traffic light gp quick start away from the lights it misses, coughs splutters (has even stalled on one occation and not through poor clutch control)then picks up as if nothing had happened, and away you go.
