I had an accident..........

this morning, Victoria Rd + Lyons Rd, Drummoyne.
I was in the bus lane, and a QLD reg Commodore cut in front of me to turn left into Lyons Rd
My attention was taken with that, come over the crest and here's a taxi parked in the bus lane picking up a fare - BANG!
All front end damage, mudguard, forks are twisted not bent (I hope ) fairing, and it's subframe all twisted. That's it hopefully.............
It'll either be repairable or a write off........if so I'll I'll turn around and buy another low mileage Trxie.......either,green,black or red/black.

Lucky I hadn't put the FCRs on yet......Phew.

Good thing you're ok Wombat, sound like it could have been worse.

Did you get any pics of scene?

(If you want to SAY your FCR's were fitted & offload them to some willing buyer, maybe that would be a good idea? :-") )

Ferkin cabbies do my head in!
In Edinburgh the cnuts do u-turns in front of you without signalling, the old black cab designs have amazing turning circles and the lazy, mostly fat, and ain`t too bright (generalisations  ) cabbies put those turning abilities to good use in front of anyone.
Glad to hear you`re ok and the bikes not too bad.

Good to here your ok.. You'll be suprised how cheap it is to repair. frame straighter will take out any flat spot in the front rim and usually get your fairing frame and bits back into shape. He'll check your forks and press your handlebars back into shape to get you up and running for a cheap option. Been there done that.. just strip the bike of cosmetics and drop it off to save a few dollars.. let us know how you go

Was able to ride bike home. Brakes, speedo, everything seems to be still working, just a bit bent out of shape. Wheel seems fine, no flat spots that I can see.
Fairing and mudguard seemed to take the brunt of it.
Rang the insurance company and then was able to ride it over to my regular mechanic's. The Assessor is gonna be over there today to give it the once over.
A long time friend is generously gonna lend me his Yamaha SZR660 for a few weeks, so that's should be fun.

Victoria Rd is notoriously bad, and this was just a matter of time. 5 mins either way and this wouldn't have happened at all.

Seriously thinking of changing jobs to something closer to home, like I had before.

I'll let you know what happens.

Cobba's right - I had a worse stack that this 20 years ago and they were able to rebuild the Guzzi and it was just as good as before. Here's hoping,................

GOOD NEWS It's not been written off!
A few parts like the fairing, mudguard and a few bracket stays are not available in Australia, so they are on back order.
About a month from now I'll have my bike back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so Happy!

Wombat, thats horrible about the stack! But pretty lucky they didnt write her off!
I know how bad Viccy Road can be, I was doing a similar run most days down Epping Rd then Pacific Hwy. Same situation with the bus lanes, people leave left turns into the side streets til the last second and swing across the lane without any warning. As for the cabbies, I know there'd be a few getting around without their mirrors thanks to my right boot!
Glad you're ok, and glad to hear the bike lives to see another day. PS I have a spare fairing (albeit second hand) if your backorder doesn't come through.
...and you may see me passing by Carlingford again soon, mines back from paint!

Scott.

So sorry to hear about your accident, glad you (and the bike) are ok. Look forward to hearing about you getting it back on the road - with the fcrs! So what's the SZR like then?

make sure you keep ahold of your bent and banged up bits, those fairing brackets if not too badly bent can be straightened and bit of plastic weld on fairing so good for spares as you never know whats around the next corner...pardon the pun ... personally I'd get it to a frame straightener as thats all it takes to bend if covered by insurance..
