Hi,

while looking at my Bike earlier, i noticed two holes on either side of the rear plastic mudguard... the two in the back are for the reflector and bracket but not sure what the side ones are for anyone know...???

maybe there was an extension piece to the rear mudguard..

seen here in this picture...

No idea, my TRX doesn`t have a rear guard, been hacked off by a previous owner.
I do have a brand new, still with original Yamaha part number sticker on, plastic undertray / mudguard that I`ll use one of these days after I`ve `modified` it though.

Mines pretty standard and there are no holes at that point.
Mice maybe? a modification by a previous owner?.

I am the 2nd owner, and the original owner wouldnt have done anything to that... it was only 1year old when i bought it... and all standard... wondering whether they were for the american market side reflectors maybe...?

The TRX was never sold in the USA.

There are no holes in the side of the undertray / guard that I have and it`s brand new, never been fitted.
Buy a couple of black plastic trim clips from Halfords to cover them.

just though it a bit weird having them there, dont bother me... jusr curious what they were there for...

maybe someone else will know...

mine is a '96 oz model and it has the same holes . . . go figure

ahh well,,

mine must have come from Australia....

cant see that, as i got the original Invoice for the bike bought at Carnells in Bristol...

Anyone remember them ?

In Sweden there is an extra piece fitted to those holes with a red reflex on it...

There we are then mine is from Sweden.... Thought it looked a bit Swedish...

any chance of a pic o what was fitted just for posterity....

Ahaaa, the European fender extenders, many manufacturers fit them to meet Euro standards. My Skorpion had a huge, ugly extension on the rear guard, that`s HAD!
It`s somewhere under my bed now!
Four and a half grand, FOOK, what year was that Al?

Same here in Finland. It is just a simple plastic extension with a reflector in it; at "old times" the rear mudguard was supposed to reach low enough (according to law) so specially in enduro bikes you could see loooong extensions. And yes, those extension plastics were removed by owners usually the very 1st day when they got the bike home...
