So with some reluctance I sold my second, much loved and tweaked TRX to get somethign a bit more pillion friendly. Here's a few pics of my recently acquired Ducati Multistrada 1000 S DS. Guy who bought it new went mental on the options list and the only item he didn't tick was the handguards! It has optional extra Marchenisi wheels, Termigonis, heated grips, carbon belt covers, mudguard and hugger, hard luggage, flip touring screen, centre stand, his and hers gel seats, Datatool S4 alarm and then the next owner fitted a Sigma slipper clutch and STM uprate clutch master cylinder (bill for £1200)! Not much left for me to tweak really so best I concentrate on riding it. I will likely add a top box to it for her in doors peice of mind when she's on the back and some crash bungs. Been out on it twice this week; solo and two up and what a competent all round grin inducer it is!! I'm looking forwards to owning it for a good while and increasing its 8.3K mileage somewhat!! Hopefully it'll be as faithful as my two TRXs....

Ohh Mince, obviously anyone can see with that silly clutch cover, all the oil has leaked out....

and I have always wanted to know why any engine needs two spark plugs?

Twin spark, it's supposed to produce a better flame front, quicker more thorough burn.

Nice looking bike, apart from the front fairing... Looks in good nick to, well done!

But once the fuel air mixture is ignited, how can a ignition point , be it a extra spark plug make it ignite any quicker or more thorough??? thats the bit I am lost on..

for example if you have a cup with some petrol in it, would it ignite an burn better with a match or a blow torch? To me both would make it ignite and the amount of oxygen would control the burn... Just my opinion and the way I see it

LoL. It is certainly different to TRX ownership despite the specs being very similar!

One mate has likened its din to a washing machine on spin with a bag of spanners onboard....he has a point!! I keep worrying that the zip on my textiles might somehow enter the spinning mass and all sorts of mayhem ensue.

I have always like quirky, non-mainstream cars and bikes hence I went for a TRX but the looks from the front of the Strada do take some getting used to. The top portion of the fairing moving with the bars hasn't been as unsettling as I thought it might be. I just hope my fugly twin doesn't get bullied when I leave it alone with other bikes.

It needs a good clean and boy are there some nooks and crannies to explore with a toothbrush. I have also found watching the temp readout going up and down an odd experience, particularly when it hits near 100 degree temps and no fan kicks in. Air cooled with all the high tech kit around it is an odd mix!!

Whilst no longer of the TRX parish I will lurk on here occasioanlly as its one of the better forums for advice and humour.

Any oversquare engine would benefit from twin plug heads - it's the time the flame takes from the plug electrode to the side of the cylinder which decreases with 2 plugs in a large bore - @ 9000 rpm there will be 150 sparks a second with a wasted spark system, anything to reduce the flame time helps to give more complete combustion.
