Sun was briefly shinning today so went for gentle rideout with mate on new tyres Michelin road pilot 3's scince you ask. first impressions were thety were twitch, very fast to turn - too fast? But as did a few miles started to feel confident and realised how badly the squared off tyre was making the bike turn. By the end of the trip I am feeling a lot more happy with the handling

Good to hear! The PR2 were a great tyre, but I went with Conti's instead of the PR3's, never been entirely satisfied with them...

PR3's next.

Santa bought new tyres for me too! I went with Bridgestones - a BT023 on the rear & a BT016 on the front.

The old rear I replaced was a BT021 which did 17,400kms - not too bad at all!

Tyres scrubbing in nicely and feeling good, been riding to work on the bike and chalked up 180miles in the last 3 days. Still wish I could have got the roadsmart 2's though.

It must be said though, it's not a particularly pleasant experience - personally I hate riding in the dark. I was driving in the car last week when without notice there was a lorry tyre in the middle of the motorway. Imagine if I had been on the bike? chuntering away at 80mph, banked over, with the piss poor headlight, which illuminate FA - Think it would have been RIP

Yes got FZ400 lights, but in pitch dark motorway with no streetlighting it is still pretty hairy, I also find that the dazzle from oncoming headlights keeps robbing your night vision and you get moments of pure blindness. If you put rain into the mix the situation worsens - role on brighter nights I say

Hello from down under!

If anybody is counting the pennies and looking for cheap but good tyres I can recommend Shinkos "Stealth"

Rr 170/60 ZR17
Fr 120/70 ZR17

A mate of mine was working in a bike shop and said that the drag guys swear buy these tyres.

I can certainly attest to the grip and feel of this rubber - very grippy yet predictable when ready to let go (lighting it up on corner exit just for the fun of it!)

We'll see how long they last, but as I rarely get out these days (three kids to look after) they wont be seeing many k's all that often anyway.

If any of you are concerned that these tyres are NOT the original size and profile, don't be. This is the most neutral handling set up I have had to date!

I ran Shinko 005's before the PR2's, very good in terms of grip, but I only got about 7K out of them, so on that front, it was actually cheaper/km for the PR2's.

YMMV, of course :D I really do like the look of the Stealths, but I just can't bring my self to go with a single compound tyre...
