Hi,
New forum member, I am wanting to raise the handlebars on my 1997 trx, can't seem to find any info about it, wether it is possible or not, anyone any ideas please.?

First off, welcome aboard

You can raise the bars by a few methods.

First off, loosen the bar clamp bolts and slide the bars up to the top of the fork legs. You should have 20-30mm of fork showing above the bars in standard position, so this raises them 20 or 30 mm. You really need to put a spacer tube on the inside allen bolts on the bars that clamp them to the yoke.

I've done this and you'd be amazed how much a bar rise of 10 - 20 mm makes in the riding position.

Secondly, some members have took both bars off and swapped them over: right onto left and vice versa.

I have done the first one, but could do with a bit more.
Cant see how swapping them over would do any good, it would reduce the lock somewhat.

I totally agree with Trixy, raising the bars by 20mm makes a hugeeeee difference.

Swapping the bars over gives a more upturned and raised position and can be done without interfering with the lock or the bars hitting the fairing or tank.

Its also about as far as you can go without needing longer cables/lines.

Not tried it myself.

The next step would be variobars/bar risers/drilled top yoke with risers and flat bars.

Unbolt the bars from the clamps and swap the clamps over, then put the bars back in. There's no need to undo any cables or anything, just a few bolts.

Honda CBR1000F handlebars are the correct diameter for the standard TRX fork stanchions and will give you a significant increase in rise. You will have to re-drill them for the locator pegs of the Yamaha Switches.

too much hassle,
decided to keep them as standard,

a simple solution is to have two pieces of alloy tubing 41mm ID cut (i had two 5mm and two 10mm cut . make sure the wall thickness is such that it can sit into the top casting of the triple clamp.
also source spacers (again 5mm and 10mm{ you can stack washers at a pinch}) for the vertical locating bolts.
two sets of new locating bolts again 5mm and 10mm longer.
lift up the bars and slide the spacers in between the bar and top triple clamps.
pinch up the locating bolts and then tighten the bars back up.
you can raise them 5mm, 10mm or 15mm depending on your preference.
if you go to 15mm , you may need a longer connecting hose for the remote fluid reservoir.
