Hey,
I'm almost complete on a build of a cafe racer style TRX. I need to chop the rear subframe off as many others on this forum have done when also making cafe racers.
I bought the frame as a repairable write-off. I believe this means that I need to get an engineers certificate before I can register the bike. I'm in NSW, Aust.
I'm worried that it I chop the frame and then get it inspected they might not pass it. I know the subframe isn't a structural part of the frame but I'd hate to get some jobs worth inspector who fails it as then I'm left with a bike I can't register.
I could take it for inspection before the chop but that would be a pain as I've got to get all the standard TRX body work etc back on to the bike.

Has anybody got any opinions or experience on this?

Try contacting twig twit holiest of holy ...twhat ever his name is down Melbourne way that does the kits as I'm sure his kits require chopping the frame so he'd have an idea of the laws I'm sure. .

play it safe,you need to take the bike for inspection at some point so make it sooner rather than later, it would only be the rear bodywork to put on so no big deal, if it were to fail, then you would have problems
