TRXs mentioned in UK bike magazine "TWO"...

A dealer has his say about "movers and shakers in the showrooms". I quote:
"and funnily there's been demand for Yamaha's old TRX850 recently. I have no idea why. Strange, that."

From the December issue, can't remember if Honk's was out in PB before that?

I was thinking along these lines recently. If Yam stopped production of the TRX due to lack of sales why the hell did the others release things like the SV.VTR.TL?
It's very simple really - VTR & TL made over 100 bhp straight outa the box (and easily more with stright through pipes) and as such were seen as viable alternatives to IL4s. The SV was simply the best entry level bike and it got loads of praise from new bikers, born agains and women - and then it turned out to be pretty good on the track.

Also, the TRX was ridiculously over priced when it was launched.
Surely if there is demand for those twins then there is demand for some kind of new TRX?
I would like to think so but in truth I can't see it. Ducati have a strangle hold on big sports twins with virtually no competition and the SV1000 aint selling that well.

The only light at the end of the tunnel is that the TDM now has serious competion (Triumph tiger, Duke Multistrada, KTM SM etc) and may have to bite back - a 1000 or even 1200 twin would be good.

With Ducati pushing for 1200cc in WSBK, it would be nice to think the Japanese might want to throw something in the pot as well. Just dreaming, I know...

Ironically, Ducati are supposedly looking at an 848 version of the 1098. If the experience is similar to the 748 vs 998 then it will probably be a better all round bike.

TRX's may be leaving the showrooms now but they are dirt cheap compared to other bikes. We all know how good they are but on paper they are not that impressive.

Like Phuk says, they were ludicrously expensive new and underpowered compared with the competition. Even in 1996 the styling was pretty retro also.

I think we forgive the TRX a few quirks because we love it so much and we all know how good they are.

i love the styling of Yamaha's FZ1 and i'd love to see a twin version of the same bike possibly powered by a smaller version of the MT-01'S 1670cc twin powerplant maybe 1200cc

FZ2 anyone :?:

Last year Kensei Sato from OVER and his team was at the TT track at Assen with his MT01 powered twin. and although it had the power, it lacked revs hence speed.

Tried to make conversation with the OVER crew , but since their English is almost non existing we mostly laughed friendly at eachother and bend our heads friendly!
I did get a brand catalogue (from which i ordered my frontpipes 8) )

I said it before, Yamaha is speaking of a new twin, (non officialy)
we think it will be the (TDM powered) MT02
But because of all the emission laws, we also think that the TDM engine wil lose a couple of HP's and wil end up with around 70 hp.
So again we think it wil get an other powerplant, but what?

with the FZ1'S front and the MT-O2'S under seat zorsts and rear end i think it could make 1 sexy twin :lol:

had a test ride on the new fz1 in the summer its the only bike I have been able to get on and ride fast from the of, thought about selling the xjr for one, then had a go on a trx and decided to keep the xjr and buy a trx

70 hp isn't enough.

Personally I think Aprilia have the right idea with the 750 Shiver - 95bhp
