Firstly may I wish each and every one of the brethren a super New Year, now to my dilema.Having spent the last two days removing all the old paint down to the metal, masking and painting the front of the motor it was time to put the engine back in. Firstly may I say...what a B-stard of a job, that motor weighs a ton. The engine is in and all bolted up, but can I get the top two bolts to line up. I have tried and tried and they are so close but not quite lined up enough to screw the two top bolts in. I have tried jacking up, pushing down removing other mounting bolts and finaly lots of swearing, all failed. My request is this... if there are any forum members who live relatively close to the Manchester area who wouldn't mind sparing a few hours to give me a hand resolving this issue I would be eternally greatful. My wife has been helping me the best she can but I could really do with an extra pair of eyes, hands and ideas. I can supply as much tea or coffee and biscuits as required and the bike is in a warm garage so no problems with getting wet. I dont mind paying fuel costs as I know petrol aint cheap in Blighty. I hope someone can help as I want to get cracking putting my TRX back together, thanks again David.

Its much easier to take the frame off the motor than drop the motor out the frame....
...but that doesnt help you now!
It csn be a bastard of a job, and the frame does flex a bit to fit the motor.
There is usually a combination or order of doing up bolts that works though, maybe loose fit the top two first, then do the others, then tighten?

Thanks for that. What is really galling is the fact that they are so so close to lining up, all the other bolts are in but not tightened up...its frustrating. If everything else fails I am thinking of taking the front and rear end of and dropping the frame onto the engine (BUGGER!) if thats the only way. I think frame flex is the problem, which has been pointed out, looks like I am gonna be busy next weekend. Thanks chaps, regards David.

Thanks so much for all the advice and offers of help...its all very humbling. But may I say a massive thankyou to Chris who gave up his New Years day for a few hours. After alot of jacking up, levering and jiggory pokery we managed to get the two bolts in. Chris's knowledge of just about everything two wheels is amazing, and a very fine fellow aswell...thanks again Chris and I hope you and yours have a super new year. Kind regards David.

just a thought.
anyone caught in this situation in the future, maybe using a webbing sling off an engine crane or hanging off the ceiling beams, thru the top tubes of the frame (with tank and airbox removed) to take the strain and close the tolerances ??
