I want to install my ignition barrel somewhere in the frame on my cafe racer (probably on a homemade bracket hanging off the choke bracket).
I'd like to make the barrel smaller as that would make things easier and tidier.
Has anyone tried separating the black top part of the barrel from the lower silver part (which contains the steering lock)? If this is done will the barrel still function?
The 2 bolts which appear to hold the two halves together have been drilled out, however the two parts won't come apart! Any ideas?

Eh, why don`t you just buy a cheap, generic, SMALL keyed ignition unit from Ebay for perhaps ten quid or so?

Yes Mince, that's the other option. Would be nice to have it all on the same key tho with the minimum of fuss.

Just had a good squiz at mine seeing as the fairing is off (detailing the bike) and if you chop the ignition up I think you'd probably end up kernackerin' it - I'd just go with the mini ignition to save some grief, then look around for an ignition from a wreck and see how that hacks up instead - saves throwin away good money.

I'm gunna have to wear my glasses more often . I was wondering why when I read the title, I thought you had found someone stashed some pot in your ignition or turned it into a bong.. Man thats a smokin TRX you have

I installed something like this on my project.....seems to work. Starts, stops - does what you want it to...can't remember how I wired it up though...
