At my last mot the tester said one or both of my front discs is/are warped.

I read somewhere its common for this to happen to original Yamaha discs of this age, it happened to my lasses fazer, same discs as the trx, I got hold of some trx discs off a forum member for her and they were fine.

What are most members using as replacements? My mot is due in a few weeks, and I haven't sorted any discs yet, I only rode the bike about 3 times last year due to breaking my wrist so never got round to sorting it since the last mot.

I don't know wether to buy 2nd hand, which is a gamble, get some good after market ones, or does anyone know any budget ones that are good quality.

Steve, You should be ok with secondhand, but ask the seller if they are warped and ask him to check the actual thickness, the wear limit is 3.5mm and they are supposed to start off at 4.0mm thick.
If you pay by paypal and find they are warped you should get a refund. You should get a good used set for about 70-80 quid or double that for new.
I may have a set available in a couple of weeks time if all goes to plan. if you are still looking then.

It will pass ok again, theres only a small warp, it can be just felt through the lever, I don't really like the idea of riding around with warped discs so want them sorted.

Does anyone know how much genuine Yamaha ones are?

I have seen EBC ones, but they are over £280 a pair which is too much.

Theres a few budget makes on ebay but I dont like buying from brands I have never heard of

I put a set of Kagizume discs on mine as I had the same warping problem. Had no problems with them and they look great, no idea how they would behave on a more powerful hyper scoot though. They were £150 which I thought was quite good value. Must admit though I got Galfer's on my Busa but to be fair the Suzook is quite a bit heavier and just a bit faster than the Trix...not as much fun though.

I recently picked up some 2nd hand discs with a set of blue spots I was after. But having measured my current ones they seemingly have plenty of life.
If you're interested, I'll measure accurately this weekend - I won't be after a great deal for them?

Sure Doug, let me know, that could help me out big time

Also, Check out for sticking caliper before you ruin another set of discs, its usually a binding piston that causes the brakes to stick on slightly that causes the overheating that causes the warping.

Very good point Dave,not widely known...often the reason for the discs to warp in the first place.
We don't otherwise do a lot of high speed heavy braking.

anyone got advice on servicing trx calipers?

Having today fitted the blue spots and discs I recently acquired off a low mileage TRX, I now have a pair of unwarped discs and associated OEM brake calipers, hoses, master cylinder and lever - all bundled with fluid intact! The discs do have a slight lip and measure just over 3.5mm - so servicable but clearly not brand new!

These were all working fine with no binding or judder - it's just that I was looking for the increased braking power blue spots + goodridge hoses should give. I would suggest however that any new recipient flush the OEM ones through with new fluid - I did that on the rear and it has made quite a difference.

I would be interested in the discs only, I dont need calipers or hoses etc, just the discs, I am in Leeds, how much are you after for the discs?

Steve, I warped a set of discs when i first got my first trx, thought a quick run down the road would sort a sticking caliper.
Unbolt the caliper from the forks.(do one side at a time) push the pistons out carefuly using lever pressure until you can see a bit of clean piston. You may have to hold one pot back to get them all out together. I used a bit of scotchbrite pan shiner to clean the pistons up, then apply a smear of red brake grease and push the pistons back in. Check the wheel spins freely before riding and make sure you pump the lever a couple of times.
If there is any fluid passing the piston seals you will need to replace seals/pistons as required.
