Ladies & gentlemen, I have just weighed my TRX

The method is simple, if a little crude. Grab your bathroom scales, some lumbar & a front & rear stand. A second set of hands might help also.

Chuck you bike on stands both ends, lower one end onto the bathroom scales at a time, using the lumbar to keep the bike level when on the scales & report back here. Front & rear weights please, & make sure the tank is pretty full, no cheating.

Add the two together & you get your total weight. The nifty part is you can also work out your front/rear bias with this method. If you're no good at math like me, just plug the numbers in here: http://www.math.com/students/calculator ... ercent.htm

My figures:

94kg front, 102kg rear, giving me a 196kg wet, with a 48/52% weight bias, but the wrong way

I'll remeasure mine when I can get a level surface & some new scales, some dolt dropped a motorcycle on mine & they don't work very well now

But, give me your figures & we'll see how we go!

When I checked mine before pulling it to bits again, I had 196kg as well, but 51F/49R.

That's a good sign, I'll definitely re-weigh mine on some level ground.

Loose some of your own body mass and learn better riding techniques and you`ll not find a TRX lacking in allowing you to have lots of fast fun irrespective of it`s weight or bias.

More curiosity than anything else, everyone always says how farcical manufacturers specs are, plus I was interested in the weight bias.

(on that note, if anyone has dropped their forks through the yokes, post the details too)

Probably, but I want a method I can use for my trackbike build too

I'm running a 2000 R1 front and have shorter dogbones (zx6) on the back which might account for the slight difference in weight bias, maybe(?)

As Mince' points out, 1 or 2 kg would be practically negligible compared to rider input and proper setup, unless you're riding down to the tenths' which 99+% of riders never really get to anyway. Knowing you've got "perfect" bias does carry a nice fuzzy feeling though.

I've 98 kilos to the front YZF750 with a near full tank of fuel, and 95 to the VFR800 rear.
Giving 193 total...that's with no tricks.
Best of all is my own 68 kilos.
Calculator said 50.77F / 49.22R...
The wife asked the question re.the bathroom scales being under the back wheel, I replied that I was interested who's REAR was the heaviest...come and sit here hon...!
At least the couch is in front of the telly

That's interesting seeing the VFR swinger is heaver than a standard unit. Dual cans or single?

She's a rocket ship, FCRS, ram air, with the Projection Components big bore 2-1 and an akrapovic titanium Aprilia end can.
The YZF front with the top tripple level with the tubes measured 10mm lower than (fork pulled through standard Rex set up...measured from my spare one)...so with the 70 series metzeler on front..drops well into the corners..
Are the VFR800 rears heavier ?...ah, than a yzf or the standard Rex?
Happy that the weight spread is close but more to the front, but it does steer well with the rear...

The VFR swingarm is reported to be heavier than a (any) stock dual swingarm,some claim 2 times, some claim only 12%, most of the VFR guys are comparing them against CBR swingarms, not sure which years though, obviously that would vary. It'd have to much heavier than a stock TRX swingarm though.

Had to look up what you meant with lumbar. Google just gave me a load off stuff about back pain.
I can imagine, with lifting a 200 kg bike on a scale!
But you meant a piece of wood, right?

My trackbike with CBR600 front end is 86.5 kg front and 87.5kg rear making 174kg with 3/4 tank of fuel.

Blimey Dave! That's light with fuel included. Haynes says 190kg's dry.

I am throwing anything away that I can hoping to get to that figure without fuel.

May have to get the scales out myself and see where I really am (once the motor's back in one piece).

2006 was the last time that i put my road bike on the large pallet scales at work (Aus Post) Almost full of fuel with the Ventura rack and bag on it came in at 205 kilos. R1 front end was fitted at that stage. The track bike came in at 179 kilos with 1/2 a tank of fuel also with the R1 front end on. I tipped the scales at a round 80 kilos (pun intended) at that stage ,now i can't even get my back protector on under my suit
