I personally would have changed the carrier,

the caliper and carrier actually works out not much more expensive than what people were selling just the caliper for, I got the caliper/carrier/torque arm for £60

I paid less than £20 for mine (delivered). It's from an R1 so the carrier had to be turned down a bit and totque arm was knocked up for me by a mate.
