hint: cheap programmable ignition

Been looking around for a programmable ignition for my upcoming engine revamp. I thought I'd share what I've managed to find in the net. I finally found fairly cheap and professional looking unit just under 200 euros with shipping.

Besides having TPS (or MAP) input, coolant temperature compensation (i.e. good cold starting), the unit also houses 5 second datalogger for power/torque measurement. That should be adequate for single gear WOT full pull. Poor man's dyno.

This unit will take the odd firing 270º crank as well, as long as cylinders have individual pick up coils.

Both ignition styles catered, TCI and CDI.

BTW - I am not affiliated with, nor a stock holder of forementioned ignition unit manufacturer. This post is merely FYI.

That looks like a cool piece of kit. If you're into wringing the last few bhp out of your engine that'd be worth a try.

On a tweaked engine, one can get the part throttle parameters spot on, and improve low rpm torque (i.e. driveability) quite a bit. That'll improve cruising fuel consumption numbers as well.

wow.. interesting piece of kit.. I was lookin around for a while.. best i could do was a megasquirt.. I use a MS2v3, works a charm. I dont have the EFI engine in the bike.. its still on my bench.. I do have programmable ignition timing and TPS, O2, temp hooked up.

Id be VERY interested to know how you go.. Honestly, regardless of whats "cheaper", KISS is the golden rule here.. and i honestly believe you have the better of the 2 right there.
