Hello everyone, and greetings from Czech republic, first of all please appologize my english, as im not a native speaker
I want to do a TRX headlamp upgrade (after 1400km wholenight ride ). I decide which way to go...
1. Original TRX lamp with HID conversion.
+ cheap
+fast to do
-where to put balast unit ?
2. FZR400 headlight
+better look
+legal
-more expensive
-not easy to get these special japan bulbs
3. FZR400 headlight with HID conversion - is it possible ? ( Im sure it wont be straight conversion, but is it even possible ? )
+The most powerful
-most expensive
-2x where to put balast
-ilegal
Thank you to help me decide which variant to choce.

The cheapest option IS the zenon HID conversion to the stock headlight. Their is plenty of room to mount the balast unit under the tank if you junk the airbox.
The second option is not too bad, those bulbs can be sourced fairly easily as I have secured a discount for forum members with a company here in the UK:

The third option might well be possible if you can source two HID bulbs that will fit the FZR400 bulb mountings.
Of course you will need two balast units and associated cable too.

Go option 1 as Mince said. Option 2 is pointless IMO unless you want the aesthetics. Option 3 is pointless for teh same reasons (but doable with 2 kits)

Welcome!
That's what I did, the ballast fits nicely above the globe, I just wrapped mine in foam & ziptied it to the horizontal fairing brackets. The other bit (forget what it's called) I just put heatshrink on & ziptied it to another stay on the fairing bracket. I can take some pics if that's too vague...
An FZR headlight with HID's would theoretically works best, as they are projector lights, but the standard unit is much improved with HID's.
