fork conversions and steering locks

with the R1 and the thunderace top yoke having an off center, is it just a given that the steering lock is lost, or is there a fix?

no problem on the yzf 750 , the trx ignition barrel fits in and then reposition the steering lock bracket on the frame tube...its a known fact that to fit yzf..r1..upside fork assembly to the TRX , you will either file the lock bracket down and lose the ability to lock the steering or more simply..reposition it.

the reason you HAVE to file down the locking bracket is that it will foul the ignition assembly on its way past to full left lock...

i just filed down mine and then welded a on new one..

I cut off the stop on left side and then mounted the ign barrel in the correct hight and it work fer me!

I trimmed the frame stop on mine and I think I had to take a few mm off the bottom of the Thunderace yoke ignition barrel mount, but the standard TRX barrel worked with the steering lock being straight ahead instead of fully left.

Seen that happen to someone next to me as we set off ... not good (fortunately he fell the other way!).

You can get reminder stretchy bright things that hook up onto your bars or levers so that you don't forget (that's what I have ... oh hang on, I have one ... it's for sale ... did I post it up in my for sale thread already? might've

Yeah did the same with mine, It is a bit wobbly so will need to weld a bush on the the steering stem to make it a bit tighter
