Nice tip trixy, thanks for that as i reckon i would have done the same!!

You dont hang about do you cheesie, im still trying to make sense of the frigging manual!!!
I assume that the correct mixture setup is sorted once its on the dyno right?? I think i read that as long as youve no engine mods then the out of the box jetting setup is spot on.
speeding?......me?.......with my reputation?

actually mate, thinking about it, there may well be a coil return spring on the part where the cables attach to the carbs which should help it snap shut?

found this photo which might help, but is it the twistgrip end you're mixed up with??

if you really whip the throttle open dead fast in a cackhanded fashion, it will 'cough' a bit, but the way these carbs work (something to do with the accellerator pump in them? that and dumping in a shed load of fuel in one go if you crack it open too fast) you should be a bit more progressive with the twistgrip.

You'll need to play around with the wires and their tension till you find the point where they WILL "snap" back when you release the grip. It's a bit of a trick, but you will find it.

I used a (cough) Honda NSR250R throttle on mine (quick turn) and had to make up my own wires.

Would you have to fit a quick action throttle to the TRX when fitting the FCRs? I remember when I had a set on the Guzzi that they fitted a QA throttle off a later Guzzi or Duke. The original throttle would take 2 handfuls to wind it out fully so anything would have been a revelation compared to the original.

And yes, if you crack the throttle on FCRs will bog down. They need a bit more precise action but you do get used to it.

right I found a pic of the way you have the throttle cables routed max, tried that and they are still the same, they wont snap back on thier own but at the same time they dont feel sticky its as if the spring aint strong enough, they do slam shut, but not on thier own, throttle response seems good as long as you dont whip it open from a closed throttle, the bike actualy starts easy need to make a catch tank now and hopfully next dry day get a blast on it to feel if the carbs are metering right

sorry philk for hyjacking your post like this thought if all of us has got simaler probs best keep it all in the same post

I shouldn't say it and Don't encourage other to do but I still use a single standard cable to operate my flatslides , I disconnected the return from the wrist grip wheel and secured it out of the way so it wont operate , Using the standard pull cable with all the adjustment shortened to extend the inner cable I ran it around the carb pull wheel a pull circle and put it into the slot as per normal then reajusted the outer to give the right slack . One day I will fix it but not today . I'm know it is dangerous if the carb locks but thats what the kill switch is there for , sorry I shouldn't have said anything

I did much the same as Bob, but routed my cable through the trellis on the LH side of the chassis... single cable, no stress or kinks in it and it snaps back like my ex-wife...!

fixed it bingo  should of checked it first, looks like the previous owner had put copper grease on the handle bar which looks like it has turned to a sort of glue, a few squirts with wd40 and a wipe and all is well I have prob flooded the engine now

test run today I think they are set up too lean, 150 main jets in them for a standard bike, dont knmow if this means with standard pipes and airbox it wont pull hard over 5000 revs and this is were I would of thought the main power would come in what size of mains are you running on your standard motor trixynut and anyone else
