Had exactly the same problem with mine. I soaked it in all kinds of stuff over a two week period and it didn't work. Then I tried the application of heat and that didn't work either. Eventually I resortedto griding away the collar and splitting it with a chisel (!). This way pretty extreme but what I found when I had done this was that the manfold studs and the collar had corroded and become permanently bonded together - there was no way they would ever come apart again............

I did some of the above lines with a grinder in my hand and that worked very well.
