It's not the power of the bike that's the problem. When traveling in a straight line and you move over the troughs that the trucks cause you can feel the front end flex and wandering around. This is because each slider can move up and down independent of each other. I know that sounds absurd as they are connected at the axle. Problem is, is that joint needs to be stiffer than it is as there is enough flex in it to be felt at the bars. Tying the tops of the sliders together with a brace that resists the independent movement goes a long way to alleviating this problem. If you look at mountain bike forks they all have a connecting brace at the tops of the sliders. They do this for the same reason. To make to lower connection with the wheel stiff enough it would be too heavy to be raced and sold to the punters. It's a easy one until I can go for a late model fork of some sort.
