Hey all,

done a load of searching but couldnt find the answer im after, so are R6 forks worth fitting?
I did change the seals etc 2 month back on the std forks and used 10w oil and a bit more of it which has made things feel a bit nicer but theres some close by well forks/tcat wheel/discs/muddy for £140 whaddya say guys 'n' gals.

I nearly went for R6 forks, but in the end got a pair of Thundercat / YZF600 ones which appeared on Fleabay.

The Yahoo TRX mailing list has a couple of people who have fitted them and think they are a vast improvement over standard.

I think the biggest hassle is that the R6 reads the speedo drive from the front sprocket, so you'll have to grind away some of the lower fork stanchion to make room for the TRX speedo drive.

Seen a trx or two with them fitted: can use the same yokes. Aren't they cartridges inside, so better?

Thats the guy i had in mind, bit miffed i didnt spot the bike 1st £620 he paid for it - woulda just dropped my lump in and away i go
espesh as i fancy the scorpions too and my paintworks gettin a bit sad - that orrible dull orangey pink that reds go and its a couple of years newer.

He's after £140 for the front end and £150 for the cans which dont sound too bad but knowing what he gave for the whole bike

Might pay him a visit and see what he says.

I think the yokes would have to be altered - the R6 fork legs are 43mm diameter as opposed to TRX / Thundercat legs which are 41mm.

Sounds like a good price for the front-end.

And I'd be willing to bet they are a lot shorter...

r6 forks.. NO.. not even the USD ones.

Get R1 or somethin from a heavier bike.. The zuki TLR ones would be PERFECT as the weight of the bikes is very similar.. but would require a bit more work to make fit.

Looks like i'll give em a miss and stick with the std ones for now, perhaps just as well as i'll get to use the set of discs i just got powder coated red and havent fitted yet along with bluespots and r1 master.

Still hoping for a haggle on the Scorps though.

cant remember who, but a few ppl here have re-sprung their forks with quality components. Might be worth a look at.. Will help handling and means you can keep your gear you have now (wheel, disks, etc). which is always a bonus..

Trust me, it gets expensive when you start modding heaps.

Thinking about the front transplant options versus respringing. Whats on the inside of thundercat forks thats going to make them better than say some aftermarket springs on a trixie front end?

ThunderCat and R6 both use cartridge forks - for more tuneable and give better control.

R6 forks are definitely worth it. ThunderCat forks fit straight into the TRX yokes, where R6 don't.

Taking from the top/back of my head they add rebound damping....

Well, ok then....................they add compression damping adjustment, as well as being a cartridge fork.

Did not know that there where non USD´s wich where cartridge...
But i might be lost in the english terminology here!
