Hey poeples....

Just bought a nice exhaust system from evils bay.But.....

The original down pipes seems to love the TRX and he just won't let go

Has someone any good idea's how to remove the downpipes...?
The 4 bols are removed but the "clamps" (don't know the name) is stuck,it isn't moving not even a little inch

soak wd 40 all over the area and leave for a night, next day give the down pipes a bit of a shake back and forth use a large blade screwdriver to prize then soak again and leave for another night, then they should come of with a little work and patients

I soakes the in WD40 and used a little violance ...and you'd guest it....no movement what so ever.

Are there theories whit heating up....ore...

I had to cut the collars on mine. even then it was very difficult to get the header off.

I've never had too much trouble getting them off but what i have noticed is that the studs tend to spread once they've been tightened. Solution is to use multigrips to bring them together slightly and the collars drop off. Also if you can pry them down a couple of mm and them tap them back up the crud should drop out. My tool of choice for this job is a paint tin lid remover. It has a 90 degree bend at the end and fits in between the collar and head just nicely.

retaining collars..

WD40 and some patience. They do come off, but it takes time.

I found the best for mine was to "wiggle" them up and down with some multi grips. Took a while to start em going, but once they started to move, it got easier and easier and just pulled em off.

In short I'd say, heat a lot and clamp.

crowbar & a rubber mallet did the trick for me
