Standard to Öhlins 85, some comparison images etc....and a magic broomstick wich could have been made for holding rebound pipe thingie when loosing it!
Just a couple of hours job and well worth it, damn that old oil smelled shiate!!
Tried 135mm air and 10w. Forks had been at work for ~30000k

They had to get black as well, and yeah....i made the decision to have a band of not black up there. Here waiting for som mat clear coat....

you know, they seem to make a huge difference to my bike.

...and you have all that spacer tubing removed and replaced by more spring!

Well, that´s how the TRX should feel like!!
Did 250km today with new tyres...120/70 + 170/60....stuck up the forks to 30mm....so now i got a bugger rear tyre...kedo +40mm dogbones and lowered forks. I was afraid it would feel nervous but it was much more stable than before.

Oh yes....if anyone wonders...the 170 wheel fits under the hugger and really feels good!!

I've just order a set of 85s for my 98 mod.
Indulge me with a couple of answers.
Do the forks go back together with all the standard bits (minus the springs), what oil and level did you go with?
Aside from the 85s is there any other expenditure involved?
I guess the forks will need more rebound damping, do you think the standard rebound set up can deal?

I must say that setting it all standard with the Ohlins and it was crap.
I am on a diet and has been loosing 20Kg or so wich means i can´t tell how it would be now.
I´ve just done the "old fix" with 5w oil and 513ml.....only i tried 545ml...
Have to see what it feels like when it´s back on the road again, i´m fitting a 878 kit and progress is slow!
As for chanign it´s easy peasy....if your not going to change your seals at the same time....



ps. I´m still over 90Kg so you know...if you´re a 70Kg little dude thing will be wildly different.

Don't agree at all I'm afraid.

With my 0.85s I set it 10w oil 140mm air gap and it was superb.

And your weight is?? Mine was 113Kg
(At the time i had the KEDO 4cm+ dogbones as well)

100kg plus gear.

I had to set my preload to minimum to get close to the right amount of sag.
