TDM 900 clutchbasket etc....

Post by Killerwhale » Tue Jul 22, 2008 9:21 pm

Was wondering, is the TDM900 the same in the clutchbasket department...amount of discs size etc.
Found a neat pricey thing for the tedium....

when i got my barnett plates, they were the same items for TDM / TRX.. So at a guess id suspect they are the same, but you never really know. Check the parts catalog and cross reference, they should be identical.

Image
PCD of 6 bolt holes = 67mm
ID of clutch spline = 98mm
OD of clutch spline = 108mm
length of clutch spline = 44.2mm
27 splines total

Image
ID of the sunk in part = 84mm (its actually tapered slightly)
OD of whole basket = 133.5mm
inner spline is sunk by 6.5mm

-------------
Inner spline (where it mounts to the gear box shaft)
-------------
OD = 25mm
ID = 21.5mm (ish..)
Crown of spline (the top of the spline on the shaft) = 2.5mm
crux of spline (closer to the ID of the shaft) = 3.5mm
13 splines total

Image

TDM850 part number is 4TX1615001
TDM900 part number is 4TX1615002
TRX850 part number is 4UX1615000

The tdm850 has been superseeded by the TRX part.. and i can 100% say they are identical. I saw them both today, but i didnt get a tdm900 part unfortunately. Im gonna do a quick bit of home work over the next week or so and see what the differences are, if any. But im fairly confident that the TDM900 is indeed the same part as the TRX unit. I rang up the local yammy dealer, got him to look at them on the computer. He says they look identical via the pictures (detailed drawing) but they DONT list measurements. The TDM900 is ~$600 AUD to buy.. So im not gonna do it to "find out".

Further investigation.

Super work!

I´ve looked on the OEMmotorparts list and where TRX has one number for frictionplates and one for steeldiscs the TDM900 has a lot of different part numbers for the frictionplates...indicating a difference in them....
