Gents, I need some advice

I'm building a TRX special with an 04 R6 tail unit. I've built a new rear subframe and got the race tail unit and seat all mounted properly and now I'm onto constructing a mount for the battery.

The dilema I have is were to put it (its an oddessy dry battery - a bit smaller than the TRX original)

The two options are:

- put it under the seat in a horizontal position (it fits but will need a complicated mount fabricating and some sort of cover making up to act as an undertray

or

- put it under the seat hump, either horizontally or vertically (it fits easily and would only requite a simple mount fabricating)

Ideally I'd like to stick it under the seat hump but I'm worried about having so much weight boinging about at the back end of the bike and the loads it might inflict on the subframe when you hit a big bump

Has anyone got any experience of mounting a battery at the back of the bike under a seat hump

IIRC Honk's is under the seat.

Matters not a jot where you put the battery (or the fuel pump etc) and long as it's secured

I very much like this topic as I am also on this task at the moment...I have been advised that it doesn't really matter what angle you mount the battery, but if you did choose to mount you battery further out on the swingarm this should not pose too much of an issue as long as you are happy with the strength of the welds

What's going to be difficult about mounting the bracke closer? is it a space thing? Also you may have to consider the length of the leads if you do not want unnecessary cabling extensions - maybe

My VFR had the battery under the pillion seat to accommodate the SP2 shock, never really noticed it to be honest.

OK Gents AND Ladies

After two cups of teas worth of deliberation I settled on putting it under the seat hump. I did the mounting this afternoon and I'm happy with the result. This will leave me loads of room under the seat pad for the relays and ECU etc.

Would be happy to post some photo's but the process of doing it on this forum is just too much of a hassle

get a photo bucket account mate. Or email them to me and I'd be more than happy to put them up. Get back to me asap though as I go on holiday skiing for a week tomorrow.
