I am redoing the loom around the headlight and when unwinding it I came across this all taped up. Anyone know what it does?

it is yes, but it will soon have an Vapor speedo instead
what did it connect to ?
It has four wires and it plugged into a kosher bit of loom
Was it ticking...?
It is quite silent in the Ticking department and mercifully it did not boom at all - yet

In that case it looks like the restrictor circuit from the original speedo. Does it rev out in top or stop at about 115MPH?

That's what I was thinking. It may need to stay wired in to the loom for the bike to run properly in all the gears up until the speed restrictor cuts in at 112mph.

I put a UK ECU on it last year and that sorted the restriction but that was with the strange bit plugged in, I guess the only way is to get the thing going with it in and see what happens when I unplug it. Thanks all for info

If there's a UK cdi on it then you should be ok to remove it, if it is the restrictor bit. Unplug it and see what happens. Go on, you know you wanna! ;)

Now that`s the sort of off topic information that makes me giggle.
(No doubt it makes your missus giggle too?)
And yes, very likey the little solid state relay is a speed limiter gubbins and now that the UK cdi is fitted it`s superficial. Why not just tape it back up,it`s obviously not doing any harm or you would know about it by now?
