Does your triple clamp look like crap from the keys scratching it? Mine did, so I decided to do something about it.
First I took a pic with a straightedge for scaling:

You can see all the scratches.
I then imported the pic into my CAD program and traced over the outline which produced this:

I then printed it off onto adhesive-backed paper and stuck that on to some adhesive-backed thin black plastic sheet that we use at work. This plastic is about 0.75mm thick, has a matte finish, is very tough and has a great adhesive. It's then off to the cutting board with a decent scalpel or hobby knife. Cut along the printed outline. Takes about 10 minutes and the more care you take, the better the end result:

I finished off the edges, removing any dags with P180 sandpaper - gently! Then clean the clamp with spirits of some kind - petrol, turps, metho, vodka - whatever you have lying around and let it flash off.
Remove the adhesive cover backing from the plastic and offer it up to the clamp. You only get one go at this, so make sure you get it lined up ok. Peel off the printed label and voila!

What an improvement.

well danged if I can find it! I remember getting mine from IMSI a couple of years ago and you could download a free unrestricted version. Maybe they no longer permit this. Couldn't find any reference to V7 on turbocad.com or turbocad.com.au, so looks like I'm mistaken.
We run 2 seats of TCAD 15 pro (or is it deluxe) at work and I reckon it's pretty good value for money. You might find a cheap copy of an earlier suite at a software disposal sale.

Lol , I ve been after a cheap reasonable cad programme for a while now.

I was originally trained on Autocad but its way too expensive, and i would only be using it for personal use

Im downloading the trial first as i want to make sure it does fully what i expect.
Then ill do some drawings for planning permission etc to test.

Wouldn't be easier just to place the paper with a bit of blue tack to hold it in place, on top of the tripple tree and stick a pin hole thro each corner or at each point needed then just lift it off. Join the dots with a ruler and cut it..
Save a lot of dickin around on the computer...

This is a great discussion about CAD packages guys, free, legal or otherwise, and does it really matter how I made the stick-ons other than the method I used (which allows me to reproduce it as required), but back to my original question:

I just used some 1200 wet sanding paper and command cleaner:

Now why not once you have the finish with the 1200 wet n dry.. utilise a clear laminate plastic type jobbie stuff maybe to cover over it instead of the matt black????
