My riding position

Post by trixynut » Sun Apr 19, 2009 3:55 pm

Just been fiddling with my riding position as I find the bike a bit uncomfy after about 45 mins riding, but don't want to compromise handling or ground clearance, so here's what I ended up with:

1. YZF dogbones, raising the rear 25-30mm
2. Forks through the yokes with 25mm (including fork top caps) showing
3. Bars raised up the forks 15mm with spacers
4. Double bubble screeen
5. 120/70 front tyre

This is giving me sharp steering, pleanty of ground clearance, not too much weight on the wrists, makes me sit in the middle of the seat, and not too much wind blast.

Raising the bars up the forks has made a massive difference to how in-control I feel and makes the whole front feel lighter.

Dave.

That's quite like my riding position and I enjoy it very much - have fun!

Didnt swap the clip-ons over as I dont like the angles in makes. Just slid them up the fork leg, then put in a spacer under the bolt that secures them to the yoke.

Mine is about the same, 12mm higher bars and same as yours on the fork tubes. No dog bones though but same front tyre. Managed 1750miles in a week this year, but sore arse is still a problem.

:D Had the bars like that for ages, just got the dog bones on Sunday from Philk.
Re the seat there is no padding in it so it has the feeling of a plank of wood, get it recovered and put some more foam in it!

:D Dogbones are on and been out for an hour and a half blast round the local back roads, The back end is higher yet I sit further back in the seat, how is that?? Handled well, however noticed a little muck flap on the rear of the standard mudguard now, that will be going!

the biggest comfort issue I have is the seat. I have read somewhere that cutting off that little tapered section helps, not tried it though.

My left shoulder is an issue after the accident, but that's more to do with the dog shite SV hire bike than the TRX, so I can't really hold it against it.
