Rear Wheel Upgrade

I remember reading on here about a rear-wheel upgrade (5.5" as opposed to the standard 5") and I was just wondering what bike this would be off? I have the opportunity to purchase a front and rear wheel of a 1988 FZR1000 dimensions: Front 17x3.5 & Rear 17x5.5.

Will these fit? and if so is there any/much playing with them to make them fit or is it a straight swap?

Easiest way is with a YZF750 5.5" rim.

Is the YZF750 rim the same as the YZF1000 rim? Does the year model that it came off matter?

YZF one is easiest cos it uses the same sprocket carrier as the TRX and the disc lines up and is same diameter, just needs some new spacers making and different bearings as the TRX axle is thinner. Any YZF750 or YZF750sp will do.

Dunno about the FZR100 wheel, soz, but anything can be made to fit.

my sprocket is also just filpped although trixynut did all the work on the spacers ,,,then painted it in racing lellow

Yeah, had one custom made approx. 4mm slotted inwards.

with mine fliped its 3mm offset and it runs true to the gearbox sprocket

So for the future i guess i can buy a yammie standard and a 16 front and it would be ok...all standard are dished??
Really think my 16/40 is a tad hysteric now....

well i am on 17/42 and yes it runs out of puff at about 135 mph but up to that its great
