Hi All, wanting to go to either a 520 or 530 chain, (mainly due to the cost of 525 chains) & I've done some searching, but I can't dig anything conrete up....

Anyway, which sprockets will work on the TRX?

Are there any that you can get working without extensive maching?

I'll be running 17/43 gearing, cos that's what I've got now & I like it.

Sprocket manufacturers will just make up a rear from blanks in whatever you want, the rear is simple the front might be more problematic, I think the splines are the same as an R6 though.
In the UK we`re spoilt for choice with sprocket manufacturers but not sure about over there in the colonies.
If you take or send a front and rear standard sprocket to them they`ll manufacture whatever size and tooth number you require, it`s what the racers do to enable them to get gearing for all situations.

Roger that, I'll have to see if I can find any manufacturers... We used to have Chain Gang but I've heard they don't do motorcycle stuff anymore.

I was hoping to use off the shelf stuff, but oh well.

They are our generic sprocket supplier over here, should have checked them first!

B&C Express do a 520 conversion for the TRX, they just don't list it. Send them an email

Just looking at my setup. The front sprocket I just pulled from my bike has what looks like rubber molded to each side. Is this a stock original sprocket or after market?

Yes, that's the genuine one. Twice the price of a JT. Still haven't worked out what the rubber does though...

The only thing I can think of is vibration damping as each roller strikes the sprocket.

Yep, that`s about it, a type of chain cushioning effect `of sorts`on the mesh with the sprocket.It might make transmission/chain noise slightly more quiet I suppose but not much else.

Mmmm, this recent tear down is starting to get out of control. Having inspected the drive train, I am also now up for a whole new set up. Starting to get the hook on the teeth. I wonder if the chain is original as well.

Their front sprockets are $55ea, any size, & Rears are $139ea, any size.

$300 for JT Sprockets & RK chain or $500 for Chain Gang stuff...

£300 for chain and sprockets? If you send me a PM and tell me what you want, I should be able to find some sprockets cheaper here and post it out to you, but you'll still need to find a chain over there to match.

No No...that's $300 ($$$) not £300

At the current exchange rate that would work out to around £160-£170
