Hi all, been a member a while now and now I have a question.

I'm planning to start upgrading my TRX this winter (if I don't buy a new bike but that's another thread)

Its mainly suspension and brakes I want to do, I'm planning on fitting a R6 rear shock, to get some damping and adjustment at the rear, what I really want to know is which front ends fit with minimal aggro as the standard forks and brakes are crap, even with braided hoses and sintered pads.

I know I can fit blue spots (used them on my FZR, had them on my Fazer and R1) to the standard forks but ideally I'd like new forks, ideally usd's.

Any tips/suggestions? the budget is small but not minuscule

Simplest USD conversion is that of the YZF750, you use all the front end and can keep the cable driven speedo.Alternatively R1, R6 and Thunderace USD`s can be fitted but with a little more required to make it all work.
The search facility on here is your friend, just search through the already multiple threads on here as to how it can all be done.
If you fancy another option, Thundercat forks and FZR600/1000 forks can be used too I believe but obviously they are conventional RWU forks.

Thunderace and early R6 forks are RWU The Thunderace stem is too short and needs to be swapped for the TRX one, but the R6 stem should be the right length (although I don't know for definite). The Thunderace forks on my bike are brilliant.

Thundercat forks are probably the 'easiest' upgrade- they fit straight in to the yokes and use all of the standard TRX bits (clip-ons, discs, wheel etc) but you need a different mudguard and a couple of thin wheel spacers. The most difficult bit is finding a pair of forks at a reasonable price

Ooops yes my mistake Kayla, I meant to say FZR1000 EXUP`s were USD, the earlier models being conventional forks.

"Search" is your friend.....

You can get most forks from any brand to fit. Doesn't have to be Yamaha derived. Most will require to either use the TRX stem and get it to fit the yokes or get one made up. A said search on the forum. It's been thrashed to death many times.

But it's easier and cheaper to use Yam bits because loads of stuff is mix and match
