Pipes under pillion seat - anyone else tried this?

That's one of the best underseat pipes on a TRX that I have seen (can see quite a few when you google image TRX). I wouldn't mind something like that for myself

The frame has been modified to allow the pipes to be fitted by the way, not a `simple` job.
MuZ`s prototype Kobra did it in a `similar` way, sadly because of folks biking snobbery and the media manipulation by the Japanese motorcycle industries, MuZ`s plans to go into production with a TRX (not a TDM) motor never happened.
I loved the look of the Kobra and Alan Cathcart loved it when he rode the prototype, anyone who knows of Alan Cathcart will know that the founder of the CRMC is one hell of a good rider too.
So..............
Yep, underseat can be done, but it`s far from simple.

Thanx guys,no mods to the frame,was very specific about that.Mincehead thanx for the pics,and yes Sir Alan is quite a legend.TRX is a 1996 specimen with 20 000 km on the clock - so still in good nick.

I had a closer look at your pictures (didn`t realise you could click on them for a larger image), yes I can see now that you have not modified the frame rails.
It`s a nice job, what are those front / header pipes, were they specially made too?

That could be.The instruction was quite clear.This is what I want,this is the budget,now deliver.The bike was delivered and I must say I was so impressed,did not even bother to look,and/or worry.There is another close up under the introduce myself section.

Seen those.
The headers / front pipes are certainly not original TRX items, it`s a tidy job apart from what looks like a rather large weld on the pipework just before the swingarm.

Point taken,will probably impact a belly pan fit,however a black hugger is earmarked for Feb together with a few other items.Bike was a streetfighter replica.Had Yamaha SA and HO Japan involved in getting it back to form,and must say they were very helpfull.Obtained most of the original parts with the purchase two years ago.Got it for about 1000 pounds in your currency,so can afford to spend a few bob.

Good price Santafe, I paid the same for my 96 `black` TRX in streetfightered form too, less than 20,000 miles on the clock.
Bellypans are made and marketed to fit the stock exhaust systems, you could have one fabricated from sheet alloy though, would look nice when polished up.

We have some good guys locally that can assist with Bellypan and undertail section,as you can see from the pipes.TRX's are lookers locally,as Yamaha never imported them to South Africa - so they are scarce.They are however supporting the bike and grey product and those issues have been sorted out(after all how can it be a "grey" product if they never imported it).I will spice up a bit and keep you informed.
