I seem to remember folk asking which R1 sidestand will fit the TRX.
Well it`s the early 98 to 01, 4XV-5JJ model that looks to have a sidestand that will fit. There`s plenty on Ebay UK for around twenty quid.

Of all things to upgrade... why the sidestand?? I don't get it. Does it hold the bike up faster? :?

If you`ve `played` with ride heights, got the back jacked up to sharpen the steering etc you`ll find the stock TRX sidestand allows the bike to lean over excessively, especially if the road drops away where you park it. The R1 sidestand being a tad longer helps to address this.

Ahh... I see... My girlfriends bike has the opposite problem... An SV650 lowered to suit a more "compact" rider... It almost falls over the RHS 'cause the stand is too long... We'll cut 'n' shut when we have the chance...

Self made side-stand made of stainless steel and yes Mincehead it is robust  ( emway's bike is jacked up)
It is not easy to make the right angle and make the security switch work.

Just ordered one from an R1 off e.bay, £24 delivered!
Thanks for the tip off, mine leans just that little bit too far over to be comfortable turning my back on it in the car park! :D =D>

It does fit Phuk, just fitted one to mine - i'll measure the length later but from memory it's about 25mm.

seems more practical to carry a small piece of timber to place under the stand if that worried. don't have to worry about surface or sinkage if on grass then either.

Happy days - I have been considering welding in an extention but this option will be neater / easier

I always carry a plastic Dunlop `freebie` side stand puck when out on the TRX cobba and if you really want to be flash you can drill it to accept a long cable tie.
Then you can sit on the bike, lean over and take a hold of the end of the cable tie, as you take the weight of the bike off the stand you can then swing the puck up and tuck it into your jacket or pocket. When you get REALLY good you can even put it down to meet the stand before you get off the bike too.
By the way folks I think NWS is about on the money, the R1 stand is around 25 mm longer.

Stupid question but does this work with the sidestand cut out switch?

If not, can someone give me an idiots guide (I really am crap with electrics) as to how to bypass it.

The one I've ordered from e.bay is coming with the mounting bracket, switch and link wire, so I'm guessing it'll be a direct replacement for the whole caboodle!

The pivot boss & sidestand switch 'actuater' are identical - just unbolt the stand from the pivot & use the TRX bracket & switch which is already on the bike, simples! 8)
