Hi all, I've just managed to secure a set of R6 blue spots, and I went out this morning to fit them up, only to discover that I can't use the standard lines (didn't do my research first... did I?)... So at first thought I figured I'd just need to get a set of R6 lines, but then I thought I'd check incase the M/C end of the line is different again.

OR...

Should I not bother with lines to match standard M/C and Blue Spots if I'm only going to upgrade the M/C later? Should I go M/C shopping now, and get lines to match the the pair?

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

Just buy the right lines now, you can double them up at the master cylinder anyway using a double banjo bolt and there are adaptors available off Ebay and elsewhere to allow the lines to be fitted at right angles to the master cylinder too.
You could always use Goodrich`s `build a line` parts, make the brake lines as you need them with the right angled banjo`s etc:

The problem is that the stock calipers have the banjo fitting on top of the caliper, and the R1/6 ones have the banjo fitting on the side (near the top)... so it's a combination of not enough length, and wrong angle...

Mincehead - That fitting you showed appears to be for the master cylinder end.. I need something for the caliper end (it might change the length, but not the orientation)

You can buy lines made to whatever length you want, many manufacturers have them in a range of lengths, then simply buy the right angled banjo to fit.
I use Venhills a lot, they keep lines on the shelf and all the fittings you`ll ever need, brake and clutch cables, specials built to order etc, even braided clutch and throttle cable outers to match the brake lines if you want them:

Spend some time at Venhills site, great company been going for years.

Got the R1 Silver spots on mine, best brake upgrade for the TRX... and best of all they match the Red Black and Silver of my TRX.....

also got Goodridge Twin Braided lines too, and a dual banjo bolt at madter cylinder all stainless steel banjo bolts too... may as well do the job properly in the first instance....

Phenomenal stopping power, i recommend the genuine yamaha pads too, as the EBC pads are not as good, and give much less feel and initial Bite...

I got the silvers of an 2008 FZ1. Much prefer the look to the bluespots on my black bike. Got them for a song from the US with their worthless peso rates at the moment.

Had mine for nothing off my Lady R1 rider that wanted some gold spots....

She is very kind..
