hi to all..here in Brisbane /Australia..its a brilliant weather for riding all year..and with my work taking me the 80 kays round trip five days a week..its usually the TRX that takes me there..since 2001 the mighty yammie has clocked up over 140000 kilometers in all weather and never let me down [not even once]..ALWAYS used high octane 98 and upper valve oil mixed in the fuel...also really regular oil servicing and looking after...i changed the origional motor at the 100000 kay mark on the odometer as it was a 1996 motor and had the case hardening on third gear worn and giving me an annoying whine ..common for the early years as with soft valve seats apparently...so this engine is a 1998 with 40,000 on it ..running well with v2 cams..standard carbs with stage 3 dynojet kit..opened airbox and pod filters inside..that with the Yoshimura system..we have some good fun...not so ..came across the YZF 750 bits from e-bay and some work in the garage..with me being an auto body repairer and interested in what might be in the long forgotten superbike parts..the front assembly is a good fun addition and looks good..easy to fit..as is the rear..it all fits ...as long as you have all the yzf parts to suit..and split the chain[to pass through the swing reinforcer] and fit your origional rear sprocket [outside in]its a piece of cake..i have used the trx rear caliper and disc..they all fit the yzf swing caliper bracket..and after new bearings [suggested] the new rear is ready to go..even the trx shock fits the yzf swing...i find the ride with the yzf front and rear together very stable,, 20 percent more than the trx maybe..the whole thing can be CHANGED BACK to origional without any scaring to the bike...what do you think ..??

Someones been a busy boy this week looking good I see you've got the 2 into 1 fitted as well. Interested to hear it on Sunday. I've got my standards back on again while i'm sorting my 2 into 1 out.

Interested to hear about the early TRXs having common problems with gearbox whine... Mines had it since I bought it (~4yrs ago) and I just got used to it, figured it was normal...

New bike? Nah noisier pipes to drone it out!

Buy a new bike and we'll hear you whinning about the service prices and that black box issue here and there and the tyres you chew up. How can you justify $20,000 for a new kawasaki ZX1 only to be able to go faster in a straight line.

my thinking is if you want and ride a balistic new and shiney sports bike that you have forked out heaps for ...someone will always have a newer and shinier one ..and i will want to see what you can do with it..meet them on the twistie windeys...

haha... You don't have to spend $20k to get a bike newer then a '96 TRX... I've been playing with project cars for a few years now, and if it's taught me one thing, its that you can spend $xxxx in car parts etc... but if you will won't have a car worth $xxxx more then it started... You sell your car, and add $xxxx to the money you get, and you'll end up something something far more special, and you'll still fall in love with it just the same. I love my TRX, but I'd love a bike that's lighter, and more powerful... But the bike I want is a good year or so away.

Anyways.. getting way off topic.

No it doesn't

Ditto, too many around, I`m bored with them now personally.

R7 rear end is the ducks guts IMHO.

I will chime in....leave it looking OEM.....the TRX is a post modern classic, and the original factory lines suit it the best (IMHO)....if you want a more modern bike....then go buy one!, otherwise, revel in the fact that you own a bike that will be considered a landmark bike for a japanese manufacturer in a few years time, if not already!
