Anyone got a definitive yes/no on the spacing? 900SS in particular.

Everything else I can work around, I think... If the spacing is right, it could be economical...

Edit: Also, I've seen Monster carbs that are split with a dual throttle cable... Any good? Would need a TPS, but these can be purchased relatively cheaply???

I think I've answered my own question, found this on a Duc forum:

That part number looks familiar...

The fcr carbs i got came off a ducati.
Was just a case of changing the connection tubes (spiggotts?) for longer ones to fit the trx head. You can bypass the tps.

Is the horizontal spacing correct?

Spacing, I`m not sure what you mean M.V., the carbs are mounted singly on the Ducati surely?

I`ve not paid a lot of attention to Ducati carbs over the years, didn`t realise they were fitted in pairs on some models.
I`m guessing that you might need to buy the necessarry spacers, linkages, tubes and such to use a pair of `ex` Duke ones on a TRX, and although it shouldn`t be a problem getting all you need I`ve no idea of the costs involved.

Dave`s referring to the inlet collars (alloy tubes) that locate in the rubbers on one end and screw into the carb body at the other, I think.
Those alloy collars were too short when I got my FCR`s, the carbs accelerator pump would foul the neck of the oil tank filler before they were fully located in the inlet rubber.
The guy I bought them off assured me they had been on a TRX but I can only assume he had sourced longer inlet rubbers as the stock TRX ones were definately no good for me. I got some extra long inlet collars from Allens and before I fitted my FCR`s turned them down to give the overall length and clearance I needed, matched all the diameters through the inlet fittings too.

Horizontal spacing, the 900SS & some Monster use the same carb as the TRX (Mikuni BDST38 as above) mounted between the cylinder with eccentric inlets.

Ah ok. If I need new inlets it probably not the end of the world... Does that mean that the outlets of the carbs are different or do they come with different spacers?

They probably won't be that far out though- the bikes are similar sizes and I'd guess that even the jetting won't be a million miles out either

Ahaaa, they`re from Sudco. They`ve also got the Sudco alloy bellmouths fitted to them too, bl*ody good price at the moment, bet they don`t stay at that price though. I see a bloke called Mick in Australia is after them (questions section).
I can tell you now, those alloy inlet stubs are way too short for a TRX fitment.
