I have recently fitted a 2010 R6 rear shock with a Kayla adapter that I purchased from the "For Sale" section from Corners R Us.
What a change.

I have set it up as follows : Pre Load 4 and the damping set mid point on both as a starting point.

The ride is a lot less harsh with a lot more controll throughout the corners both on and of the gas.

I can now exit my favourite set of bends. on the B645 from Chelveston to Kimbolton, at least 10mph quicker.

So i can thououghly reccomend this mod.

Was the shock brand new? is it a yamaha item or a aftermarket one for a r6? I'm interested in doing something for my trx with the rear shock. Does it have the remote chamber?

Its a standard 2010 R6 shock. Its got a Red spring with the damping chamber incorperated into the top mount.

A lovely bit of kit, just needs one of Kayla`s adaptors to fit as its shorter than the original one.

Nice photos there, really shows how it fits together and how neat the Kayla adapter is , I have a question though, what are the extra holes for behind the swingarm rocker towards the rear wheel? Until I had a closer look I thought they might be for an adjustment to raise the back end, but the dont seem quite as chunky as the forward mounts and they are slightly angled/shaved at the edges. Any ideas .....anyone.....?

It`s been asked before Cal and no-one is too sure but it could be something to do with Yamaha`s factory jig / machining centre that uitlises them.
Best ignored, the headferk isn`t worth it!

Could be useful if popping the shock out for a few days, you could pop a bar in there so the back end doesn't collapse. Not official though

now all i need is Kayla to tell me if her dogbones work well with the R6 shock and then i know what i want for christmas !!

They'll work with the R6 shock, but I can't say if they work well or not- it's subjective!

I had +20mm on my bike with an R6 shock and loved it, I've got one in my 4/6, and I'll be removing the standard SZR swingarm and using a 3TJ arm so I can use an R6 shock in that too

I've fitted my TRX with a R6 rear shock and an adapter from Kayla.
It was the best mod i've made, except the flatsides !!

No torn tire, very smooth damping, very good feedback.
