Re: Tps swop
As far as I know, all TPS are the same
BTW, you don't have to use it with FCRs. I personally would recommend if you are riding on the road but you can mod to remove the need for TPS with no errors
Have a search on here for TPS mod

Re: Tps swop
As the bike will be used on the road I'd rather not junk the tps all together but two places I've sourced fcrs have both said that the 99 tps will be no good and an earlier one is nessesary . I don't know why , I presumed the mounting may be different ?

Can you ask them why the TPS might be different pls, haven't heard of this and am with Phuck and wouldn't know why !Trxdick wrote:As the bike will be used on the road I'd rather not junk the tps all together but two places I've sourced fcrs have both said that the 99 tps will be no good and an earlier one is nessesary . The TPS on my FCRs is a 96 and works fine.
Mounting should be the same as to the actuating spigot.

I don't know how to post a link but if you look at fcrs for Trx on the BR special tuning site you'll see what I mean
It says "up to and including 98 models re-use original tps , 99 on you will have to purchase tps for a pre 99 model "
Can't remember where but same thing on another sellers site

While on the subject of the TPS.
Can someone verify weather if fitting the tps on a pair of TDMR's you need to reverse the phasing on the wiring due to the mounting being on the opposite side??
Maybe Robert can enlighten us on this as he has tdmr's...

Re: Tps swop
Yamaha list the same part number (28 throttle sensor assembly) 4HM8588510 for all years of the trx.
I cross checked and it didn't matter which year I looked into it still came up with the same result..
The same TPS sensor was also fitted to
98 XJR1200
99-01 XJR1300 including the SP models
97-02 XJ900s (diversion)
You do need to utilize the seal from beside the TPS mounting plate either off your old carbies or pick up a new one.
DF seal ...Part number 4HM1423900
