Morning all,

does anyone know if the igniotion on the TRX fires every stroke, so in effect there is a wasted spark on the exhaust stroke or it just fires on compression, making the TDC position critical when timing the cams?

Irrelevant question, as TDC is always critical when timing cams

To answer the question : the trx ignition fires on every stroke (I know this because I use one for 3vd TDM engine, one side that is) .
But how can you time cams when you don't know exact TDC ?

a extra long dial gauge through the plug hole or piston stop method.

Reason I asked was if the ignition only fired on compression stroke I could have timed the cams to be on ignition and the ignition timing could be on the exhaust stroke e.g. 360deg out
