Speedo drive on YZF conversion.

I have been busy over the winter spending money on the Rex and have put a YZF750R sp front end in

. My problem is with the Speedo drive

. I have the gearbox for the axle and the original TX cable fits but does not drive the Speedo. I have checked the Speedo itself with a drill attached to the end of the cable and that works but when i connect them up the speedo dos'nt work.
Any clues from thoes in the know

Remove the speedo drive from the wheel and inspect inside,hopefully it will be repairable...the actual drive spindle is made from brass and can sheer off if not properly lubed.
The speedo drive from the trx won't fit either as it has different axle diameter.

I've had it to bits and its well lubed,

and spins freely. Would it be the cable? I have swopped the cable around today but it still is not working.
Any other ideas before i buy a Vapour dash.

The yzf speedo drive is a plug-and-play swap for the trx so it WILL work.
You either have a knackered speedo drive or cable or speedo dial.
Check each item carefully and individually.
Cables are prone to rotting through about 1 inch from bottom, inside sleeve, cos that's where water can sit.

So I have bought a YZF speedo cable and that didn't fix it

so it looks like the drive gearbox is NFG. So will a Thunderace/ FZR 1000 one fit or is it YZF specific ? Thanks. Gary

jack the front end up , take the inner from the cable and stick it in the drive - hold it with some pliers and rotate the front wheel, that will show if the drive is stripped. Another thing to think of is is the inner long enough, i.e. engaging in both drives.

So how is the setup on the yzf750 front axle out of curiosity?
Does the larger yzf axle come std with the threaded end after the bearing are milled down to 17mm so where the speedo drive sits and the end screws onto the fork leg are the same as the Trx being 17mm???

Thanks for the advice guys. I have bought a replcement off of \ebay and will fit it tonight. The Sun has come out now so a quick run up the road to check its all OK will be in order.
