Oil Pressure

Post by johno440 » Wed Jul 16, 2014 11:28 am

Ok I located posts regarding oil pressure light & gauge mod, but could someone please advise what the usual running oil pressure is and also what pressure I'd have the warning light come on. I found the following youtube clip what seems to show it at 1(bar?) reaching 4 at higher rpm. If this is bar pressure, when I convert 4 bar to psi it is 58. Is this right?

As I'm installing an oil pressure gauge with a audible & visual warning, just need to know what to set it at.

That is Emay his bike from the youtube clip :)
1 bar low and 4 bar high rev seems about right and usual.
I had more or less the same with my bike.
Although with a warm engine the pressure drops slightly below 1 bar running stationary.
The switch from the wellknown kit switches as low as 0,3 bar.

Thanks Tarwetijger. 0.3 bar is about 4 psi. So if i set the oil warning light to 3 psi it should be about spot on?
