Re: High RPM issue
Japanese imports employ a limiter at 180kph.
There as sensors in the speedo that trigger the limiter in the ECU under the riders seat.
Sensors are at 180kph and at 0kph so you can't just bypass it by disconnecting the speedo cable from the drive on the front wheel.

Re: High RPM issue
Hi thanx there is no speedo on it but the speedo only runs a cable so more likely the rev counter(also not on the bike) should limit, the limiting is in every gear
it doesn't rev into the solid toque even

Re: High RPM issue
The Japanese lmiter is at 7K RPM so not the issue. There are many things it could be though, a coil not working properly or float height nowhere near right. It's hard to gine anything but possible ideas, this is not a known issue.

Re: High RPM issue
Hi Will,
You don't give a lot of detail to go on but I would start by checking and ticking off all the boxes of both your electrical/ignition system and fuel delivery system.
What is happening at that point of rpm?
Will it just not rev harder but remain smoothish or
Does it chug or surge
Does it start to missfire
Does it backfire through the carbs
Does it do something else entirely?
Was this problem there before the carb kit, timing chain or valve clearances we done?
More info may get you some better answers from the collective.

It must be true, I read it on the internet.

Re: High RPM issue
Hi appreciate the help, carbs are 100% in spec, was done due to worn tubes, timing chain was done cause old one was stretched out. Can't tell exact rpm's cause rev counter was removed. I bought it not working already. It sounds exaclty like a limiter when it does that, sounds like spark is being cut, no backfire through carbs though, I'll try and get a sound clip so you can hear if it will help?

Re: High RPM issue
Does the CDI have an orange or a green sticker on it?

Usually 14-14.5V if the regulator is working.

Re: High RPM issue
Also, have you checked plug gaps? Unset/incorrect gaps can do that too. We assume they would be correct but I've been caught out before.

Re: High RPM issue
Pop the cam cover off and check the cam timing and valve clearance…..
If it's not made in China, it's a fake!

Re: High RPM issue
You have an import ECU and a limited ECU...
I've pulled the speedo apart and have a good understanding on this problem.
The speedo has a disc connected to the speedo needle axle.
There are magnets placed at 0KPH and at 180kph that trigger the limiter.
disconnect the speedo and you still have an issue.
You will find the Japanese import models also run a 17-41 gearing as std which raises the rpm so if yoiu are running the std 17/39 this will lower the revs to around where you are having the limiting issue.
RPM is a variable because gearing dictates this, the limiter is in place at 180kph and 0kph period...
See if you can borrow an ecu from a forum member close to you that is not a Japanese import or get aN Ignitech fully programable ignition to fix your limiting issue.
